Conversations with Light

These photographs are meditations on light, time, and the quiet resilience of nature.

I remove the distraction of color to reveal the essential character of the landscape by working in black and white. A wind-shaped juniper emerging through a late spring snowstorm, delicate dogwood blossoms suspended against the sky, shafts of light filtering through towering redwoods, and dogwoods floating beneath ancient giants become studies of resilience, grace, and impermanence.

Each photograph is an invitation to slow down and notice what often goes

unseen. Rather than documenting a specific place, these images seek to express a felt relationship with the natural world. The landscape becomes both subject and metaphor—a reminder that beauty exists in fleeting light, changing seasons, and the quiet endurance of living things.

For me, photography is an act of presence. It is a practice of waiting, seeing, and responding to moments that cannot be repeated. These photographs are less about capturing nature and rather about honoring the experience of being fully immersed within it.
